are you focused?

Okay, today is Friday. What is it about Friday you ask? Well starting this week, Friday’s shall never be the same again mainly because I have to update my BLOG! But wait, I did not say that it was a bad thing, in fact I’m looking forward for the end of the week where I can sit down and blog. A time for myself. Now only I know the meaning of “time is precious” and certainly it is. I realized this on the first day of lecture where I was bombarded with assignments and when I use the verb “bombarded” it really means “BOMBARDED”. Can you imagine that? Well if you don’t know what “bombarded” means let me help you.

The definitions of bombard in my Concise Oxford Dictionary are:

attack continuously with bombs or other missiles

and

subject to a continuous flow of questions or information

Well, I hope you can imagine my situation by now since I gave the definition of bombard. Now, let’s not talk about it anymore.

How long is your focus time? Do you know what focus time is? Well focus time is basically the time where you are focused. Is your focus time long or short? Or maybe you are not focused at all? Me, myself has a short duration of focus time. Each time I study or read something (mostly academic); I won’t be able to sit stuck on the chair for at least half an hour! Sometimes my focus time could be around ten or so minutes, pathetic right? I just hope I could improve my focus time so I can study more and hence improve myself. I know I can do it but somehow there is a force that is holding me back. I’m sure most of you experienced what I am experiencing now in some phases of your life. However, whenever I do something that I like or passionate about such as playing the guitar or games, and weird enough, my focus time is a million times longer. I guess the fact that we should do what we are passionate about does sound very true because if everyone are stuck doing what they are not passionate about, then it will result in producing more unfocused and certainly unproductive human in every field. Finally, societies will crumble bringing together the doom of nations.

So, I guess the only solution is to be passionate about everything that you do and believe me it’s easier said than done. This is because you can’t force someone to like something that he or she hates. (I have a problem: whenever I use someone or anyone, for example, if anyone wants to go to the toilet, _______ must ask for permission. What should I fill in the blank? He or she OR you OR they??? Can anyone help me? )I don’t hate studying, seriously, I’m not lying but I hate the fact that my focus time is not long. If my focus time is short then the amount of information I take in would be very little and vice versa. To make an equation out of it, I can say that the amount of focus time is perpendicular to the amount of information one take in.

However, I am trying to improve myself constantly. Whenever I study I would try to glue my bottom on the chair for as long as I could but after a while I would switch to study on the bed. Eventually, well you guessed it right, I fell asleep. Drift off till the next morning. How I wish I could be like some of my friends who can stay stuck on their chair for hours and hence taking in more information. I ‘don’t know why. But there is one thing I know, it’s uncomfortable to sit on the chair. Well, that’s what my body thinks because after a period of time my body will resist to get stuck on the chair and prefer the comfort of the soft bed. And I guess that period of time has come and this is how far I’m going to write for today. Adios.
